In filmmaking, visual effects (abbreviated VFX) are the processes by which imagery is created and/or manipulated outside the context of a live action shot. The consistently growing VFX industry in India has faced a revolution in all verticals with blockbusters like Baahubali and Bajirao Mastani bewildering the audience worldwide. Virtual Reality (VR) is seen as an upward trend and is the inevitable evolution of visual effects due to its high implications for next generation talent. The digital dawn has taken place with increasing internet penetration and access speeds, a plethora of devices that support content consumption, and the rise of digital media players driving the on-demand digital content industry.

VFX has been used in many popular Hollywood blockbusters like Life Of Pi, Skyfall, Avatar, Twilight: New Moon, TLOTR: The Return Of The King, Transformers 3, Expendables 2, Interstellar, Rise of The Planet of the Apes, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant Man, Kingsman: The Secret Service and The Amazing Spiderman etc. Indian 100-crore budget projects like Robot and Ra.One are also telling examples of the promise the country’s post-production scenario holds. In today’s time visual effects are the spine of post-production. Any film that you watch has VFX inculcated in them.

As we enter into 2017 it is evitable that the VFX industry will be growing bigger and better. There are numerous VFX institutes across the country where you can complete VFX courses and perfect the skill. With a proper training in VFX you will have a very wide aspect and array of career opportunities lined in front of you. In addition to all this you have to understand that software giants like Autodesk & Adobe and production houses like Warner bro’s, Pixar etc always invest in new technologies to make it easier for modelers, animators, artists and movie directors. The purpose of developing technology to suit their purpose is benefiting people all over and will always continue to do so. We can only expect them to go forward and use technology to make the task easier in film making.

In the coming year the VFX industry is estimated to grow three fold and this will lead to the opening of hundreds and thousands of job opportunities for talented VFX artists. . There are many visual effects studios in India which are likely to provide visual effects for Hollywood as well. The demand for these studios is likely to increase over the time as the demand of visual effects increases and India’s capability to produce it improves.  Students studied from animation & VFX institute of India can also find opportunities with Hollywood industry.
